Thames Honours Armistice Day

On Friday 10 November, the whole Thames community marked Armistice Day by gathering together in the South courtyard. Head of Sport and ex-army officer Christian Neilsen read "For the Fallen" by Laurence Binyon, first published in The Times in September 1914. Year 11 trumpeter Sacha, played "The Last Post," a haunting melody associated with military ceremonies and wartime remembrance.  Originating in 1914, this distinctive tune, usually performed on a trumpet, cornet or bugle, resonated through the school grounds, emphasising the school’s commitment to honouring the sacrifices of servicemen and women. The ceremony united the school in contemplation and gratitude, reinforcing Thames Christian School's dedication to instilling reverence for history and the individuals who shaped it.
