Success Stories
James
James, who completed his GCSEs in 2018, is currently studying Computer Science at Jesus College Oxford having attained 4 A*s in Chemistry, Physics, Maths and Further Maths at A level. In Year 12 James gained a Roentgenium Award in the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge. At Thames James attained five grade 9s, two A* grades, an 8 and a 7. His 9s were achieved in Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Geography, A*s in Computer Science and Religious Studies, 8 in English Literature, 7 in English Language.
Kale
Kale came to Thames in Year 9 from a large school that was not meeting the needs of his dyslexia. He achieved extraordinary results after three years at Thames, with a Value Add of 2.3 above his standardised predictions. Kale is passionate about all STEAM subjects —Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths. His GCSE results include 9s in English Language and Art, 8s in English Literature and Physics, 7s in Mathematics and Biology and C in Additional Maths.
Charis
Charis came to Thames in Year 9 from a top independent London school where she was unhappy with the ethos. Gifted in dance and performing arts, Charis, who is dyslexic, flourished in our smaller environment where each pupil is known as an individual. She achieved 8 A*s in Art, Music, English Language, English Literature, History, Religious Studies, Science and Additional Science and As in Drama and Maths.
Isaiah
Isaiah, a music scholar at Thames, flourished under Dr Mitchell’s expert tuition, attaining grade 9 in his Music IGCSE in 2022, with 100% in his composition, a substantial eight minute Suite in Three Movements for Saxophone and Piano which showed excellent understanding of the instruments he was writing for.
Daniel and Elizabeth
Daniel gained 5 A* and 5 A grades at Thames in 2014, and then took A levels in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics before going on to study Biomedical Engineering at Queen Mary University of London.
