Year 13 Students Go MAD in Tanzania: Building, Climbing, and Making a Difference!
Five Year 13 students have just returned from an unforgettable, action-packed trip to Tanzania with the charity Go MAD (Go Make a Difference). Go MAD is dedicated to empowering Tanzanian communities through sustainable development projects. The students' journey was both challenging and rewarding, offering hands-on experiences while learning new skills and giving back to local communities. The team built a water tank using mesh construction, assembled gables for a new timber-processing workshop, and completed two sturdy goat sheds. They also took part in a skills workshop, gaining experience in sawing, hammering, drilling, and practicing safety—all crucial for supporting ongoing projects. Their visit wasn’t all work; it included unforgettable moments like trekking up Eagle Rock to watch the sunset, experiencing a safari through the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater, and even scaling local cliffs to try rock climbing. Highlights also included visits to a nearby school, planting trees, and offering much-needed help at a leprosy village, where they assisted in wound care. The trip left students inspired, equipped with new skills, and with lifelong memories of the Tanzanian communities they served alongside.
