End of Term Workshops and Trips

As the term drew to an end, we were delighted to put on an array of workshops and trips for those not taking part in the annual show including some sessions with visiting professionals. Year 9 and Year 10 enjoyed an insightful sports afternoon focusing on athletics and football skills with Olympian track and field athlete and middle-distance runner, Marilyn Okoro, and ex-pro footballer and former Exeter City player, Leon Braithwaite.

Year 8 had a STEM workshop with Thea Docherty, a civil engineer from Babcock International. Year 9 learned about the workings of a courtroom by taking part in a mock trial led by local JP, Janet Kemp. Other workshops included a forensic science investigation, cookery, design technology, ceramics and fashion and textiles.

Year 10 geographers went on a field trip to Seaford where they investigated longshore drift. Year 9 and Year 10 visited Kew Gardens for sessions on biodiversity (Year 9) and nutrient cycles and decomposition (Year 10) supporting their biology studies. And Year 10 visited the British Library for a session on digital story-telling.
