Thames Celebrates Impressive GCSE Results for 2024
We are proud to announce the achievements of our students in the 2024 GCSE exams. This year, 47% of all grades were awarded at levels 9-7, with an impressive 93% at 9-4. In particular, 34% of our pupils earned at least five grades at 9-7, 69% achieved at least three 9-7 grades, and 86% secured at least one 9-7 grade. Additionally, the percentage of 5 9-4 grades including Maths and English was 90%.
Commenting on the 2024 results, Head Stephen Holsgrove said: “As a non-selective school, these results are a testament to our students' hard work and dedication. Their achievements reflect our commitment to providing an environment where every student can thrive. With small, bespoke classes we are able to teach a wide range of subjects in the lower school, which are subsequently followed by an exceptionally flexible choice of options at GCSE and A level.
“We would like to highlight some exceptional individual performances: Robyn achieved an incredible eight grade 9s, Anushka earned six grade 9s and two grade 8s. Veniamin, a Ukrainian refugee, secured four grade 9s and three grade 8s despite English being his third language. Other standout performances include Grace with two grade 9s and five grade 8s, Helena with two grade 9s and four grade 8s, and many more.”
Subject-specific highlights are equally impressive: Art and Music both saw 100% of grades at 9-8, 3D Design and Spanish had 100% at 9-7, and Biology achieved 67% at 9-7. Further Maths, Physics, French, Maths, Drama, History, and Geography also saw strong results, showcasing the breadth of talent among students.
Stephen Holsgrove concludes, “These results are a true reflection of the incredible support from our dedicated teaching staff and the hard work of our students. We congratulate all our students and staff on their remarkable achievements this year.”
